BABY BOOM (1987) ** Whoever convinced both Diane Keaton AND Sam Shepard to be in this should win some kind of dubious award. Their performances are top-notch, but essentially wasted on a "who cares?" script with its heart in the right place. Yep, havin' the big corner office overlooking Park Avenue isn't life fulfillment. The excruciatingly predictable story fingers some of the big problems of capitalist culture, and the soundtrack inadvertently nails others (although the theme is nice).
