BILLY MADISON (1995) *1/2 A typically senseless but occasionally borderline entertaining Adam Sandler vehicle. Redeemed almost entirely by a few minutes of Chris Farley as the school bus driver. The vehicle driver hijacks the vehicle! Why must Saturday Night Live alumni so often make entire movies that have less substance than the brilliant 30 second skits that made their reputation? The scriptwriters (including Mr. Sandler) work him through a couple grades then they lose interest, only an hour after the audience, and rush to a brief, absurd, ridiculous, stupid and semi-wonderful climax. Of this film's 85 minutes about 68 are an utterly pointless waste of film to the point of sin, ten are quite humorous, and seven (three with Farley in the middle of the screen, and a four-minute ensemble "musical" segment) are absolutely hysterical.
