BLOWN AWAY (1994) **1/2 Better than average mad bomber flick. A problem with organizations like the IRA is that they attract nuts, and even worse desperately need them in order to be effective. Tommy Lee Jones and Jeff Bridges are both eminently believable as freedom fighter/terrorists in divergent evolutionary arcs, and Forest Whitaker is tremendous as the old Guinness drinking da. Too many musical interludes, but the terrible beauty of the intricate bombing systems lighting up with their little red eyes is shot brilliantly.
