THE BRADY BUNCH MOVIE (1995) *1/2 Marsha making out with two guys the same night, all the while pursued by a lesbian? Jan walking the streets of LA with 'ho's? Can this be the same Brady Bunch we all knew and loved (not Biblically), thirty years later? It kind of is, with different actors. Of course the Brady Bunch was always more of a 50s family with 60s fashions so maybe the writers have merely taken away a veil. Rather than roll with the original feel and settle for unintentional camp they want us to know that they do get it, even if the Bradys don't, so there are a lot of scenes where Bradys are confused about events, motives, tongues, hands down their pants, etc. Some of it isn't their fault, I'm sure that they aren't responsible for the fact that when it's midnight downtown it's daylight at the Brady house. It's not as bad as I'm making it sound, morally or aesthetically, but it's not all that good either. The tone is such that it still passes off ok as family fun, but more of the "stupid" variety than as "wholesome and stupid." Would have fared a little better if they'd clipped it a half hour early when there was an obvious opportunity.
