COMPANY BUSINESS (1991) **1/2 Gene Hackman as a CIA guy who likes to drink is good casting, and Mikhail Baryshnikov has an excellent Russian accent. This is a film about the post-corporate world in which spies are playing silly games that have nothing to do with ideology and everything to do with cash. Who do you trust with $2 million, a capitalist or a communist? Answer: How do you tell the difference? Naturally the two protagonists have more in common with each other than their respective governments because governments don't have anything to do with people, are sold out to big bucks (including the CIA-Colombia connection), aren't trustworthy, and are run by weasels. At least enemy agents like to drink and talk about chicks. A couple hurried-by holes in the plot cost this film-spy thrillers require airtight plots not CIA/KGB agents who neglect their beepers.
