DEAD MAN'S ISLAND (1996) *1/2 "Aw honey, it was chili dogs that made me like this" explains a near elderly Barbara Eden to William Shatner, both glancing at her expanded ass in tight jeans, though I think it was meant to be admired. No, really. If that isn't enough ye shall also be treated to Olivia Hussey, Morgan Fairchild, David Faustino, Christopher Atkins, and Traci Lords in dresses that don't fit. No I'm not making it up, but I am somewhat impressed in a perverse way with whoever did. With whoever did the casting, not whoever wrote the novel that impossibly manages to wax respectful while name-checking Jackie Collins. Actually, where is Joan? A murder mystery like this needed one more character with a little oomph, her or maybe George Hamilton as Shatner's evil twin, or Tom Waits, or Slash. What the hell, it's kind of fun, and occasionally funny, to see 'em all trotting around.
