DEFIANCE (1980) *1/2 By this point it was already clear that Jan-Michael Vincent would never recapture the splendor he showed in Disney's The World's Greatest Athlete only six years earlier. This is, in fact, an utterly pointless film, quite poorly acted, scripted worse, and with substantially less originality than a Hallmark Card. Still....it means well, I think. The gang is unintentionally very funny looking (you can just see the wardrobe lady going "Ok, you're the jean jacket guy, you're the dark hat guy, you're the bandana guys, you're all Puerto Ricans..."). And it makes you feel kind of good about yourself when you see someone as extraordinarily handsome as JMV is a scene as unconscionably stupid as where he tells Theresa Saldana about how a boat will take him away again someday. I like Danny Aiello.
