AMERICAN COUSINS (2003) **1/2 Haven't they made enough feel-good gangster movies already? Nah, they haven't even made enough movies about roadrunners or mutated electric eels! It's fertile ground.ok, so there's the good New York City bad guys (played with aptitude and panache by Danny Nucci and Vincent Pastore) and then there are the bad chav-thuggie British bad guys. The bad bad guys are also in the Ukraine. Obviously. So the good bad guys run into some trouble with the bad bad guys and soon descend on their innocent bystander relatives (or are they?) who run a chippie in Glasgow, which becomes the epicentre of bad bad guy activity. There is a love interest, I'm not saying there's not. Halfway through it's reasonable to think that it's going to reach for something more than it does, but most people will be satisfied with a good balance of humor, action, suspense and doom.
