DOC WEST II (2009) **1/2 The '70s Terrence Hill Spaghetti Westerns were among my favorites. I'm not saying great-like Once Upon a Time in the West -but an awful lot of silly fun, spiced with the essential gunplay, poker, interesting women, etc. Despite everything that I've read by anyone else, this is like that. Not as great as the Trinity movies-or nearly as funny as Hill's Watch Out We're Mad -but good fun. It was the second part of a worthy comeback by someone who someone might argue is one of the greats. Yes, ladies, Terrence still has those eyes. None of that surprised me, I've always thought Terrence Hill was really cool. The amazing part is how apparently effortlessly typecast-mobster Paul Sorvino settles into a Wild West roll…I mean I had to check his bio just to make sure that he really is from Brooklyn, and not Prescott or Yuma or Tombstone… Making Westerns is a fading if not being lost art, and…if so….this is a pretty good last gasp of it.
