EPICENTER (2000) ** I have to say that the special effects are really good. You can see that they're computerized, and maybe not the highest quality CGI, but someone really put some good thought into them. Yep, I bet that's how a subway train would role, how skyscrapers would tremble, how sides of things would fall off. After all the well-orchestrated hubub that she caused in the heavy metal community in the late '80s, it's funny to see Traci Lords out there still trying to act. She hasn't improved much I don't think, but she benefits from being surrounded by other actors just as bad. It's a hokey story for an action flick, I guess, and it never generates any sense that things other than the earthquake really might play out like this, but it keeps movin' which means it doesn't stay anywhere too bad.
