IL FIGLIO DELLO SCEICCO (Kerim, Son of the Sheik,1962) *1/2 Garlic and olive oil pasta camel jockey swashbuckling desert flick. I do have some problems with the production values: the dancers can't dance, the actors can't act and the voice-overs are only occasionally such dramatically intoned clichés as to induce guilty hysteria. If you boiled down every soap opera ever made, and glued the residue on a desert with rubber cement, this is what you'd get. The locations are cool though, and the involuntary excursions into high camp only gloriously exacerbated by the reality that they were clearly shooting for something that they had some insane belief that they might attain. The main, number one thing it has going for it, though...I mean, I don't claim to know jackshit about editing...but the editing is soooo bad, particularly the final half hour...I mean, I'm telling you, honestly, the climactic moment is spliced with a hole right smack in the middle. It's unbelievable, worst editing I've seen in at least the last thousand films I've seen...I really liked that, I was laughing so hard.
