GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE 2 (2003) **1/2 Another triumph! (dreamily) Imagine...an elephant who thinks he's a dog.... Ok, it probably helps if you're in the mood, if you're kind of juvenile, if you're not soo smart...if Wile E. Coyote is more meaningful to you than any character ever penned by Shakespeare. It'll help if you're me. What song should a gorilla sing in Vegas (?), and many other essential questions of existenz answered in large part through the brilliant narration of Keith Scott. I'm just guessing that there's a young lady somewhere groovin' on Christopher Showerman ( yes! that's actually his real name, too), and there's something to be said for the genetic mandate in favor of the dimwitted, good looking and well meaning. I'll tell you a secret: some guys look for the same thing in chicks! So if you act dumb, some guys will like you better ! Moving right along...this is a film that makes fun of itself, overtly, within seconds of the opening credits, if not before. This is a film that maintains a level of silliness so stupid as to sustain sensibilities of insensitivity such as to serve you splendidly! There's nothing wrong with it! It's really good! It's not easy being this consistently stupid, you've got to have a lot of smart people working together, or some really dumb ones working for one really smart one, or really dumb lucky ones... My teenage daughter caught the last five minutes. Bemused, but only slightly so, she offered the verdict, "The problem with this film is that it takes itself too seriously."
