HELD UP (1999) ** Just looking at the cast, I was hoping Barry Corbin and John Cullum would get a little bit of "Northern Exposure" type weirdness/magic going but, unfortunately, as in the tv show, they pretty much ignore each other, without the great results, obviously. Cullum mainly fails to ever get anyone to pay for anything in a convenience store, and Corbin satisfies himself with sporting a shag-rug style moustache. No worry, well not much, as the film isn't really supposed to be about them. It's mainly supposed to be about Jamie Foxx, who's entertaining enough to keep things going without much pain, and has good (anti-) chemistry going with Nia Long, though not like what she had goin' with Martin Lawrence. Get back on television, you people! All you people! The best moments of the film are delivered without words, by dumbo cop Jake Busey.
