HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON (2010) ** The dragon's mannerisms so remind me of my dog, that I've taken to referring to my dog as a dragon. That's a huge plus, and despite that-as anyone even remotely familiar with my ramblings understands-I'm not crazy about this kind of compu-animation. It's a good story though, it plays cards designed to get at the heartstrings and the big issues that endow them, and it does to so some extent, results will no doubt vary from person to person. I can understand-particularly a young person, even teenager-loving this movie. The goal of it all-saving civilization, killing dragons, Viking-ing out...the big payoff for greatness is getting a cool girlfriend. And that's a truth that never really evolves or changes much, but can only be blurred or distracted. Nicely done, real values, best thing about it is it reminds me of my dog.
