JACK HUNTER AND THE QUEST FOR AKHENATEN'S TOMB (2008) ** Its very clear and apparent mission is to be serve as made-for-tv Indiana Jones-lite. That's what it is, so you can call it a success if you like. Irony is obviously going to be beyond their grasp, but there's lots of action that's at least ok. It does bog down when they have extended (more than 45 second) conversations with each other, but they thought they were supposed to. None of the actors manage to rise much above the proceedings, but I would be comfortable casting Joanne Kelly in something better, and Mario Naim Bassil in anything that needs an Egyptian comic relief sidekick. Ivan Sergei is no Harrison Ford...I don't think as much of Mr. Ford as do many, but he is the king of this kind of stuff...but he looks right (i.e., too pretty) for this kind of approach to this kind of stuff, and he's not at all the problem. If you go in without higher expectations than any of that, no problems, kind of fun even at various times.
