DER KLEINE EISBÄR (2001) *1/2 If you're really into animation you'll probably enjoy this a lot more than I did. Some of the animation's very cool; the water, shadows, colors permeating ice...not just the way that the water looks, also its movement and way that things move in it. Unfortunately there's not much of a plot: little polar bear befriends little seal, gets lost; the good animals all live in harmony (even the fish, who apparently don't mind being eaten)...except for the humans . Harumph, think I heard that one before. The plot, such as it is, is more designed to drive the action through scenes that the animators wanted to do; which admittedly works out better than some plots, as they do them well. I'd rather just see a few scenes from it a few times each, taking a fraction of the time and not diluting the wonder of it all with....ah, what kind of moron uses phrasing like "abject nonsense" to describe an animal cartoon. Just avoided disaster there, I did.
