THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN (1974) **1/2 You know, this may be my favorite Roger Moore Bond flick. Not that he's better than usual; he's always consistently good, which makes him a very solid pick for second best Bond ever. But the story also flows, and Christopher Lee is a really good arch-villain. Britt Eckland is in the upper echelon of all-time Bond girls and she's a better actress than anyone gives her credit for; as evidenced by the fact that she somehow manages not to dwarf Maud Adams during the early going. Everyone dwarfs Hervé Villechaize...yeah maybe you don't think that's funny, but he's made a career being funny about it...and when he starts kicking James Bond's ass! The cars are disappointing, but for a Bond Goes to Hong Kong it could have ended up a lot worse...I guess I was also a little bit disappointed with the inevitable Kung Fu school battle, too...but, nah, it's a pretty good one, I just wanted too much...and I think we finally managed to get rid of Sgt. Pepper!
