MINDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (1985) ** Has the feel of a middlin' British sitcom, of which it's derivative, I guess there's some mystery and satire involved. Some, not particularly in depth or well founded, but the characters are all amusing enough, it's kind of got a little bit of Murder, She Wrote type appeal. That would put George Cole in the place of Angela Lansbury, not a good enough trade but he does have a certain raffish charm. It moves slowly but not without intent of any sort, which makes it a good enough weekend afternoon film for a certain type of person, and men of a certain age will be delighted to note that Honor Blackman is still knockin' 'em down in the aisles. I can't recommend it much, but I'd feel awful about myself if I claimed that it was no good at all. Lots of drinks floating around anyway, more than enough to give you a few ideas if you haven't figured out what you want to do. Go on a fancy train ride, yeah that's it.
