MY GIRL 2 (1994) **1/2 There have to be all kinds of teenage girls....ladies who used to be teenagers, especially from divorced families, who have a special place for this in their hearts. It's put together so well, and Anna Chlumsky is such the middle America girl, so much for anyone to identify with. And then she goes not only to Los Angeles, but everyone of my generation's sense of California: wild, dangerous, elegant...the only place in the world, to the accompaniment of a nice FM pop soundtrack of our youth. Dan Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis get top billing, and are both very good, but their appearances don't do much more than bookend a film with Chlumsky and Austin O'Brien running things. This is one of those movies that has the potential for a very meaningful place in the attic of your youth, if it hits you at just the right time. For the rest of us it's nice, and has a good heart.
