NAUGHTY OR NICE (2004) ** For much of the film-or perhaps all of it, depending on how you call 'em-this is a nearly useless piece of New Age garbage hiding behind Christmas and scapegoating sports radio. It's superficial, it's pompous, it's lousy and it has no redeeming qualities, no matter how seriously it takes itself and no matter how enthralled it thinks we all will be to receive its message. It's just dreary, nearly depressing. That George Lopez is frequently excellent and in character isn't enough to redeem. Lisa Vidal is cool too. Not enough. Then, as it boldly and shamelessly and idealistically turns into a home stretch that is at least as inane as all that preceded it, though at least upbeat.and the music swells and they play their low pip value metaphysical cards with a flourish worthy of Houdini.ah, you know I'm gonna fall for that. Merry Christmas. Be happy. Think positive. Good is on your side if you do good.
