NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM (2006) ** Twice removed from the primal ooze, though, but aren't we all, really, most of us, more a manifestation of the ongoing momentum of long lost tribes, than of the missing link or something that happened around the block at the time of our personal conception? And hasn't it been for naught, so much of it, the conflict between tribes, though the most impact has been from the battles necessary? And wouldn't the action depicted, pretty much of all of it, constitute a reasonably mellow evening for the environs of Central Park? It's a good kids' movie, and one that demands that you have a kid at it; most of the fun being seeing how funny they think it all is. I mean, you've got to really be in touch with a long-lost sandbox self to get much going with all this intercultural time-transformation/projection inter-species.well, other than monsters and space aliens it's pretty much like dumping a well stocked toy box and giving everyone a role. Ben Affleck would not be my choice of actor to appear in every single shot of a film, but he has his moments. Mickey Rooney is the best, but no small relief is provided by Ricky Gervais and Owen Wilson, and there are enough familiar faces to warrant further distraction. One of which, but you feel so sorry for Kim Raver-first stuck with Affleck and then a guy way even worse. Nice youth culture advertisement for the Museum of Natural History too, shouldn't be any trouble getting your kids to accompany after this.
