RICHIE RICH (1994) ** I really like John Larroquette in these self-centered bad guy roles. I mean, even when he's trying to murder people he's easily forgiven, because two frames ago he looked so silly waving around a cigar the size of Thailand. Yes, he's always the same character, but it fits in a lot of places, like here. Christine Ebersole is also a nice archetype of one of the...ah'm...better women who might marry for money, and I do wonder if this might have some relation to the fact that when her husband tries to talk economics he sounds like a socialist. Not cause for much ponderance, no more really than the North By Northwest schtick demands comparison to the original, but it's a nice little romp about rich people in an age when the general public needed to be reminded that some of them share human characteristics. And Reggie Jackson's in it!
