STUART LITTLE 2 (2002) ** Before the film I was treated to a ten minute dissertation on how they went about all the shots off the top of the building, and across Central Park. Makes you think how much thought and work goes into even the most inane films. Actually, it's a montage of mechanical marvels when you walk across the street. So much is really going on when you sleep. The world of the electron is. I enjoyed the Stuart Little book when I was of target age, but I really wouldn't want to be put in charge of any film adaptation that might be seen by an adult. Hugh Laurie and Geena Davis do a really good job of being the doofy couple, and without his going into face contortions or her getting too cute. Couldn't have been easy, there must have been a great temptation to add something/anything to the script. To their credit they don't, and don't create distractions as a result. Kids don't need distractions from mice flying airplanes, and the very existence of a falcon is really wonderment enough if you think on it properly. Inter-species romance ain't all that bad a thing, and no I'm not walking about Hugh and Geena. Sheesh.
