TEEN WOLF (1985) *1/2 Michael J. Fox plays basketball in a high school league where apparently none of the refs know the jump-ball rule. Also, he turns into a benevolent and benign werewolf. Not a real promising premise, but you never know... Is it a metaphor for puberty, an early insight into the steroids era? No, definitely nothing like that, there's no way it could begin to do that kind of lifting. The footage of the wolf playing bball is pretty funny, and I like the wolf suit, but there way too much high school socializing for my brain to tolerate. I mean, even in The Breakfast Club high school social stratification is less than fascinating, and here it just degenerates too much, further clouded by the very clear sense that the people depicting it never knew much about it. So it kind of just goes on and on. You know what's going to happen. You don't want it to, but there's no stopping it, it's just going to. All served up without existential trappings of any kind.
