UNACCOMPANIED MINORS (2006) *** Very The Breakfast Club. Where it meets Home Alone meets The Seven Samurai meets Wacky Races meets Escape From Devil's Island . It's a little bit of all that, super smurfy with attitude and power chords to spare. Demographic is 12-15 I'd say, which is a perfect place to play a film about kids of broken families coming together to...create their own collective spirit! Wow, and it happens to everybody at that age, too, your parents don't even have to be divorced...c'mon, join the party. Wouldn't work-not like this-if the kids weren't such wonderful actors: Tyler James Williams, Dyllan Christopher....this may be, like a child pairing of Paul Newman and Billy Dee Williams someday....and Gia Mantegna then...how long until she's what they're all fighting over in the better bohemian and gangster flicks? So it's a film full of youthful rebellion and Christmas spirit and talented young actors playing amusing characters and improbable scenes and just enough flickering of the bright future that lies ahead to leave the kids bursting out the theater doors into the wild, great unknown.
