THE DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD (2002) *** [en Scots voce] I think the society depicted has as much to do with Ireland as South Louisiana, but it's all quite real just the same. It's a nice show of alcoholism and women friends, the alcohol's a bit brief I spose-ya see bad decisions bein made ya see the collapse-but it's those times between that no one sees; not the victim, the people who see em doan unnerstan, and the doctors an all I guess. It's a good film. Sandra Bullock and Ellen Burstyn do nothing to ruin it but I can't help thinkin they might have had something special with Shirley Maclaine and....oh, even Julia Roberts, the pair from Steel Magnolias you know. But she wouldn't have been the best one...what about Madonna? She'll surprise you some times. For a movie from women about women, they do a better job of picking the men. James Garner you always like, an Angus Macfayden he's from not far away from me.
