MADAGASCAR 2 (2008) ** It was enjoyable enough, it finished well, the weird thing being that what I saw as strengths in the first one are liabilities here: they don't do much of anything with the script for either adults or children, and they rely too much on characters that (for me, this time) don't carry it. When things go lax-which is most of the first hour of the film-I find this form of hyper-computerized animation an unpleasant distraction. Sacha Baron Cohen is great at voice stuff though, kind of annoying like he's supposed to, so those parts are the better ones. You can't complain about what gentle inclusive morality statements it makes, though I did find entirely too much time spent amongst animals bickering amongst themselves on the platform for such a thing. A bit too realistic a fantasy, then. The evolution of the airplane is very cool.
