SANTA, JR. (2002) ** As a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law and, more to the point, former OB Hoodlum, I can assure you that the San Diego criminal justice system doesn't work this benignly. A point that I will forgive, in a Christmas fantasy about the Son of Claus. And to be fair the SoC is embattled in that fair city, against the cops (like everyone else), the criminal element (like, yeah, everyone else, etc), and fighting that battle for faith. Ok, so somehow that all makes it more realistic. For me. You may still be unsettled on this Son of Santa business, but that's fine because it's always nice to discover room for personal growth. Film students will find easy pickings in selecting scenes involving the generally sympathetic Judd Nelson and/or/and Lauren Holly that might have benefited from another take; and the essayists in the lot likely moved to write something including the phrase "probably would have worked better in stills, for every scene" in describing Nick Stabile; but the really nice and politically-inclined could probably spin something about George Wallace being the anti-George Wallace. So it's about Christmas, and it has some Christmas spirit in it, and there are probably some things you should be happy with any of it at all, and if so Christmas spirit must be one of 'em. So my holiday best to Officers Pickett & Brown, SDPD.
