S.O.S. PACIFIC (1959) ** A cop, a couple guys from the wrong side of the law, a stewardess, a hooker, an aging socialite, a physicist and maybe a couple other people get stuck on a tropical island. No joke. No rabbi, no priest. Well, it's not bad, but it would have been better as a farce with a rabbi and a priest. The actors are fine, but just imagine if the good criminal was even more macho, and he was Dean Martin; and the bad criminal was way slimier, and he was Jerry Lewis; Bette Davis as the socialite and the cop the meanest, cruelest incarnation of Ernest Borgnine...yeah, that would have been something. Instead it's a good enough little film, well intentioned but probably enlightening only to those without many lights on, it's not exactly what you'd want for a rainy Sunday afternoon, but it's enough like it that it's difficult summoning the phraseology to complain.
