THE TAILOR OF GLOUCESTER (1993) ** I'm all for Beatrix over Harry, in the battle of the Potters. She's simple and sweet and good...but her genius doesn't speak to me as personally and directly as, say, Dr. Seuss. Her drawings reflect the same values as her writing, though, and complement them beautifully and....even more important here...lend themselves nicely to animation. So if you really like the stories-and can bear the thought of celluloid-it's going to be a nice treat. I like the singing mice. I know that there's no singing in the book, or much, but you have to understand that films of writing are a reflection of some portion that lends itself, and that's right, they got it right in this one.
