A WALTON WEDDING (1995) ** At the time, when I was young I was too cool....I thought I was too cool....I hoped that I was, I hoped everyone considered me too cool to enjoy the television show, "The Waltons." Decades later it turned out that my wife had grown up on it, and loved it, and through re-runs and videos I came to appreciate the everyday, everyman, the simplicity, there's actually a liberalness to it all that's very appealing. Here they are all, most looking fully two decades older, except for John Boy who was so cool that he's sporting a 1978 hairdo in scenes depicting 1964. The film doesn't get to me as deep as some of the better episodes, but seeing them all out there-these actors who depicted characters who took on some meaning, and so the actors themselves took on some meaning-trying to do it all one last time, is meaningful in itself. It's good to see 'em all again. The final scenes will work for you, if you ever let the show work for you.
