WILL YOU MERRY ME? (2008) ** It will help if you-like me-have a special soft spot for Christmas movies. And for low caliber movies that try to smooth over the differences between different kinds of movies. As I do. And schmaltzy love stories about people you wouldn't carry much about otherwise. Me. So I think what I'm saying is that I'm going to have a lot more tolerance for this than most people. But it's not like they don't take any chances either. Wendie Malick spends much of the film in danger not even getting close to the defining edges of the stereotypical contemporary overbearing professional Jewish mother. She's also the only one that anyone with an IQ over 75 is likely to identify with much, though, and her acting is best of all in a film where no one's bad. So that's alright. Is there just a little bit of soul and Christmas/Hanukkah spirit to it? Yeah sure, why not, maybe a little bit. Man those are some immature young adults, though, and it just makes you rejoice if your children have the independence to ignore you. So look around, there's always something to be thankful for.
