THE GAY DOG (1954) ** Wilfred Pickles starring in The Gay Dog, from Eros studios. The possibilities are almost limitless, so I'll destroy as few as possible while maintaining the integrity of the plot. Pickles is not the dog in question, but he leaves his wife in the middle of the night to go sleep with the dog (named Raving Beauty). He then dresses Raving Beauty up in people clothes, and takes her out for drinks. Pickles' wife threatens to kill Raving Beauty, at which point Pickles indicates his willingness to murder his wife. About this time Petula Clark is falling in love with the vicar's son. Things come to a head, of sorts, leading Pickles to declare something like "Do you know how many Gays there are in this area? They multiply like rabbits! There must be forty thousand. I can't be expected to make up with every Gay in the region." Soon thereafter Pickles and another man make a threesome with Raving Beauty, in the doghouse. The entire town is fascinated with the Gay intrigue, leading to a showdown in which the vicar himself realizes no small financial gain.
