THE GREAT ST. TRINIAN'S TRAIN ROBBERY (1966) ** This must have seemed like positive anarchy at the time: reform school girls smoking and playing cards and taking compromising photographs with politicians, guys with hair down their back claiming to be trend setters, the loyal and well-meaning citizenry engaged in futile efforts to have any effect on anything. Now it's every weekend anywhere. It's all reasonably entertaining, but not great, and hasn't aged well as everyone started making this kind of film until they realized that society had superseded the concept. In accordance with the Official Regulations of Sixties Anarchy Films things are suspended midway, in their entirety, and replaced by a chase scene. Trains this time, is it? Well, that's alright then.
