THE INSPECTOR GENERAL (1949) *1/2 Danny Kaye is the inspector general. Danny Kaye is not the inspector general. Some people think that Danny Kaye is the inspector general. Some people do not think that Danny Kaye is the inspector general. Whether that's enough or not, he's going to sing. The songs that he sings are uniformly bland, occasionally somewhat clever, more regularly than that slightly amusing, but not at all necessarily brief. Then he'll go back to being the inspector general, or not, amidst the complementary players who believe that he is, or isn't. If it sounds interesting you'll probably like it.
