MADRON (1970) *1/2 Richard Boone says you can't ride at night, then he says you can't ride during the day; the day and night scenes all look alike anyway, so it's easy enough to follow (you just have to ignore the directions). A lot of Italians involved in this one (shot largely in Israel-a matzo ball western?), which should help explain the strangely distinctive characteristics of the indians, including but not limited to mop-hair wigs. Leslie Caron is a hot young nun all helpless in the desert, so you can imagine that much of the plot, such as it is, is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of her, ah, vocation. Doesn't stop her from smiling or being nice to everyone, she's a real nun. Her pairing with Boone is partially notable, and might have worked even better in a farm epic about an ambitious homesteader and his mail order bride.
