SATURDAY THE 14TH (1981) *1/2 In a house occupied by ghosts, werewolves, goblins, rats, vampires, gorillas, sea monsters and wolfmen, the inhabitants are only irritated by the owls. Is this a symbolic attack on critics? I doubt it, that would have shown some inspiration, or at least strategy or thought. The choice of victims, in a film determined not to offend, is interesting: a real estate agent and a cop. This proves that the public perception of Certified Public Accountants and lawyers were yet more victims of the Reagan era. A lot of cliche's done badly, but unlike many at least they know it.
