SWORD OF SHERWOOD FOREST (1960) *1/2 It only takes about 30 seconds from the opening credits to the proverbial naked dyed blonde swimming in the pond. There's a terrorist gang fighting for the redistribution of wealth who spend most of their time in trees when they aren't eating chicken or playing a double-neck lute. It goes on like that for some time, with standard dark Hammer lighting and earth colours, and then there's a prolonged sword fight and you leisurely realize, "oh, this must be the climax." Features Oliver Reed acting very gay and petulant, which is good news for someone somewhere sitting on a few litres of rose'. Good and bad church and government people and a lot of nepotism. So it used to be better then. Passable Sunday matinee faire.
