TENTACLES (1977) *1/2 If you're ever in a B-movie, don't go swimming. This is an Italian film, in English but with a separate voice track to allow for Italian dubbing, about California, which is inhabited here by a lot of Italians. Also a giant octapus. What if there was an octapus so big that it could eat the whole world? The Solana Beach Junior Regata parade is so '70s. How do they get John Huston and Henry Fonda to be in schlock like this? I mean, it's kind of funny, but....Bo Hopkins and Shelley Winters I understand. Maybe if they'd had Huston direct.....then they could have had more character development on the octopus. The killer whale trainer goes into a monologue before unleashing the beasts to save the beach...not really for the benefit of the orcas, but to apprise the kind of audience that would pay to see this of what was going on.
