ULYSSES (1955) ** "Let us drink some wine. It is better than milk." Ah, it's an ancient tale, and one that's never been told like the original though most versions are better than this. Kirk Douglas strangely resembles the lion, or maybe the tin man, from The Wizard of Oz" in the title role and Anthony Quinn emotes a violent rage at levels that would be only somewhat impressive in an Elementary school rendition. The Mediterranean Sea is absolutely breathtaking, but beyond that this film is most distinguished by the extraordinary resemblance between Telemachus and Jethro on "The Beverly Hillbillies."
