THE WRONG ARM OF THE LAW (1963) **1/2 In which the world was first exposed to the happy reality that Peter Sellers is a genius at being French. It would almost be worth watching, you know, what's the worst thing in the world-Jim Carrey and Sharon Stone movies, or Ronald Reagan (especially not in movies), for hours just to catch a glimpse of Sellers doing haute culture. Almost. He also plays a good west end hood and, of course, there have been precious few lovers like him. The plot is a reminder that it's good for everyone to change their modus operendi now and again, cops, robbers, even Australians. Wonderful car chase featuring vintage British cars-Rolls Royce, Aston Martin and Sunbeam followed by an airport riot. Of course there would be no moral if everyone didn't get what they deserve and all geniuses end up satisfied, like Gaugain.
