X CHANGE (2000) * It's not easy to make a film this awful involving terrorists, the bankruptcy of corporate ethics and culture, free love, black detectives, and body exchange...but this film achieves it so successfully that it will no doubt serve as the future template for anyone attempting to replicate the feat. And there will be some, believe me. Somewhere hidden in this film is a plot for a decent-not a good-not even average probably-but not entirely horrible 35 minute long sci-fi flick. They've done everything possible to hide it in between fixed-schedule segments of what surely have to be some of the dullest sex scenes ever rendered to video (and not taped over). Occasionally they change things up a bit, and instead offer the equally enjoyable old gruesome blood 'n guts routine of limbs being stuffed into acid or fingers or enormous swathes of skin being cut off. Genuinely bad movie, and while it had to be that way it didn't have to be of this magnitude.
