YOU'LL FIND OUT (1940) * Horror spoof revolving around an effete post-vaudeville musical variety show host in a graduation hat and pajamas. The funniest thing is that there was ever an alleged civilization that ever listened to music like that. The scariest thing is that anyone anywhere ever thought it was worth listening to. There's a lot of it, too! So nauseating is Kay Kyser that one is saddened that the scriptwriters call for him to beat up both Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff, who have already revealed themselves as charlatans and murderers. And a lawyer/judge. Bela manages to pull off a few moments while raising the dead on his transdimensional communicator and light show but, believe me, for once it's not enough. Peter Lorre is the right kind of actor for this kind of film and I don't mean that entirely as an insult. Even the dog is stupid. If you must watch this, make sure you have a hangnail or something to pick at.
