FRANKIE STARLIGHT (1995) **1/2 I want to give this one a higher rating for being so admirably ambitious, and a lower one for not keeping me awake during the first half. It's shot beautifully, the dark colours and contrasts and ubiquitous peeling European wallpaper are perfect. But, contrary to what some critics have said, the actors just don't deliver. I liked the strong sentimental ending, but then again, I listen to Lobo.
