GHOST STORY (1981) *1/2 Full frontal nudity isn't typically what you look for in a Fred Astaire flick, but it's what you get here. It's supposed to be a horror movie, but for different reasons. It's a horror movie for people who don't like being frightened by horror movie, they can watch this one, no worries. John Houseman, once again being an elderly legal beagle, on this occasion a more typical lying with with an extraordinary and atypically classy Rolls Royce, though perhaps lawyers do lead all professions in being outclassed by their own vehicles, well with the obvious exception of corporate CEOs, but I digress... Rural Vermont would seem fertile ground for a horror flick, and it may well be, despite this one. Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. escapes by jumping off a bridge, anyone with any sense of aesthetics would do something similar. Lots of footage of old men writhing around in bed, having bad dreams. If that's your sort of thing, this one's for you. If not, it's a little bit fun watching Fred Astaire bow out of such a celebrated career, in such an unusual setting. He's quite likeable, you know.
