HOUDINI (1953) **1/2 Did he or didn't he? Did he or didn't he what? The Houdini legend encompasses (probably) a lot more than the authentic bio but the entire thing is fascinating enough that any light shed is welcome. This sheds some light, just as Tony Curtis has some of the charisma and good looks of the genuine article. I don't find the historical inaccuracies of this treatment particularly fatal; it's a Curtis and Janet Leigh's variations on a theme of Houdini. That's worth something. Did he or didn't he dematerialize? Tony Curtis? In what way?
