IN TOO DEEP (1999) *1/2 See there's this hip town called Cincinnati, and the bruthah runnin' the powdah call hissef God, but in real life he's LL Cool J. He's a bad lookin' dude. Omar Epps handles a very difficult role as the undercover cop with twisting loyalties nicely, but this is a movie relying on realism that isn't entirely realistic. They do a good job in passing of depicting how loyalty in the ghettos can be bought by people who provide what the government does not, because it's wasting all its money trying to catch the people that do. Patty Hearst, a white girl you know, avoided the largest manhunt in American history for an entire month while hanging out in the black San Francisco ghetto, and buying stuff from the corner liquor store on a nearly daily basis. You think no one noticed?
