JUNIOR (1994) *1/2 The Twins nucleus of Ivan Reitman, Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger returns intact, which is either good or bad depending on your perspective. Emma Thompson replaces Kelly Preston in the lineup, which can only be good. Emma apparently got ahold of some hair dye Kelly left behind, which is bad. Reitman reminds us of his masterpiece Ghostbusters by opening the action in a library basement, which is reasonable. DeVito is a gynecologist whose wife has recently been impregnated by the Aerosmith entourage, which happens all the time. Arnold is a sort of capitalist Dr. Frankenstein minor, who impregnates himself for gain and glory. Among less affirming reactions you have to admire his guts for taking this role, and truth is he doesn't do that bad of a job. I used to work with a lady who looks just like him once he puts on a wig and goes transvestite, and without question Arnold has more grace and is more ladylike. It doesn't have as much to say as it thinks it does, and it's not as funny as it thinks it is, but it does have something to say and it is a little bit funny for the most part. Only in San Francisco. Arnold's body, Arnold's choice.
