LOVE AT FIRST BITE (1979) **1/2 This film very seriously flirted with far greater things. The scene where Dracula and Dr. Rosenberg tried to mutually hypnotize each other in the restaurant is absolutely hysterical. George Hamilton as Dracula, and the guy who plays Renfield both did their homework: their intonations are very true to the original characters even when the dialogue digresses wildly. Hamilton understands what is funny about the vampire legends and works the angles beautifully. The special effect "bat" is perfect for this kind of film; a furry little win-a-toy-at-a-carnival thing.
