MICKEY BLUE EYES (1999) **1/2 Cartoon-like gangster flick with the twist of it all seeming like it should happen. That's how programmed by Hollywood we are, and happily so because our frame of reference saves the scriptwriters a lot of trouble doing things they wouldn't have been able to do anyhow. Hugh Grant is, as ever, charming as an art auctioneer and James Caan is a lightweight compared to his character in The Godfather. A lot of light slapstick laughs, easy to follow, fun enough to want to keep going, entertaining mob schtick.
